Last year was the first time I ever heard of Fort Jefferson- Dry Tortugas. As soon as I seen pictures, read about the history and heard you can take a seaplane to the island..I was sold! Last year I made reservations to visit the Dry Tortugas but due to high winds they cancelled and had no openings left for the week. This year I made sure that I booked early enough so if any inconviences occured I had enough time to reschedule. If you ever visit the Florida Keys, I encourage you to take the trip to the Dry Tortugas. So worth it!
KEY WEST SEAPLANE ADVENTURES EXPERIENCE
Key West Seaplane Adventures provides guests with the most amazing way to get to the national park. You can choose whether to visit in the morning, afternoon or even enjoy the island for an entire day. We did the half day trip at noon. The flight time was about 40 minutes each way. I seen a hammerhead shark, dolphin, sting ray and tons of sea turtles. Our pilot pointed out several other interests along the way such as uninhabited mangroves, treasure sites and ship wrecks.
Honestly, I sat down for a good couple of hours trying to write about this place. There is so much I can tell you that I didn't even know where to begin. So.. lucky for you guys, I documentated my whole experience! Check out my video I put together of my time on the island.
