*I got the whole experience documented on my GoPro..well, I thought I did. When I went to review the footage, I found out my GoPro ended up failing me and didn't record anything..I swear It was on & everything!! I don't know what happen but I am very thankful my friend had her camera and got some pictures. Thanks, Andrea! lol.
The Fly in │ Open house event included: seminars, homebuilt aircraft, flight simulators, aviation and vendor displays, free beverages and snacks, and of course, plane rides! After my seaplane experience, I’ve really been wanting to get my pilot's license. If EAA Chapter 15 hosts another event like this and you are interested in aviation, I recommend going and checking it out. It wasn’t this super huge event or anything but worth checking out and enjoying an aerial view of Joliet and surrounding areas. The event is free but airplane rides are $40.00. They had two different airplane vendors to choose from. My friend and I went through SimplyFly which had a smaller two person plane. The other flight was through Lewis University. They had an aircraft that held up to 4 people. I was happy with our choice of Simply Fly. Christian was our pilot. He was actually using the event to get his hours in to become a pilot. After my flight, I talked with a few guys who were members with the EAA Chapter 15. They filled me in on becoming a member and how joining has major perks that will help in the aviation world which can open doors to aviation careers. If you or anyone you know may be interested in getting their pilot's licenses or just becoming a member of EAA Chapter 15, contact the EAA Chapter for more details. They meet every 2nd Tuesday of the month and Thursdays for social events. They said that Thursdays are the best days. If you’re lucky, you could even get a free plane ride from some of the pilots. Make sure to follow them on Facebook so you wont miss out on any of their upcoming events.
